To conduct a factor analysis in Jamovi, navigate to “Factor” → “Principal Component Analysis”. Move your selected items (variables) into the analysis box. Ensure to check the Scree plot and select Varimax under Rotation. Set the Number of Components based on eigenvalues, and choose to hide loadings below 1. In the Loadings table, focus on items with loadings above 0.5, as these indicate strong relationships with the respective factors.

Results of Exploratory Factor Analysis

  • Factors Extracted: A total of 3 factors were extracted.
Factor Number Factor Name
1 Engagement
2 Motivation
3 Satisfaction

Interpretation of Factors:

Factor Analysis Insights

  • Factor 1: Engagement includes items that reflect user involvement and interaction.
  • Factor 2: Motivation captures items related to reasons for participation and effort.
  • Factor 3: Satisfaction encompasses items indicating contentment with the experience.

After reviewing the loadings and considering their meanings, I recommend retaining 2 factors (Engagement and Motivation). Factor 3 (Satisfaction) has weaker loadings and does not significantly contribute to understanding the core constructs.
