Healthcare Service Settings, As future leaders, you will probably work in one of four types of healthcare service settings, each having different quality indicators.

This assignment allows you to familiarize yourself with the measurement resources available on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) website. In particular, the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, known as the CAHPS survey.
CAHPS surveys ask patients to report on their experiences with a range of healthcare services at multiple levels of the delivery system, from provider to health plans.
To get started, you will review the resources to become familiar with AHRQ and the resources and tools available. Next, you will review the surveys, tools, and website. Then, you will review and analyze surveys from each category.

Step 3. Review the CAHPS Surveys Information Categories and Select One of the Survey Groups from Each Category
The four blue boxes are the categories of information gathered from the CAHPS surveys.

Enrollee Experience with Health Plans and Related Programs
Patient Experience with Facility-Based Care
After reviewing each of the categories of the CAHPS surveys, select one of the survey groups listed within each of the category groupings.

Patient Experience with Providers: You can select CAHPS Clinician and Group Survey or Hospice or home Health Care, or Surgical Care, or American Indian
Patient Experience with Condition-Specific Care: You can select Cancer Care or Mental Health Care
Enrollee Experience with Health Plans and Related Programs: You can select Health Plan or Dental Plan or Home and Community Based Services
Patient Experience with Facility-Based Care: You can select Emergency Department or Hospital (Adult or Child) or In Center Hemodialysis or Nursing Home or Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery.
Step 4. Complete the Following Information for the Selected Surveys
For each survey that you select from each of the four categories above, provide the following information:

The purpose of the survey; be sure to include the date it first launched/implemented. (Maximum one paragraph)
Number of survey versions (include the number of the survey, e.g., 3.0 3.1, 4.0, etc.) and the difference between the various survey versions. (Maximum one paragraph)
List the quality measures from the latest survey version. (Maximum two paragraphs)
If the survey is used by other agencies (e.g., NCQA, CMS), describe the purposes used by the different agencies. (Maximum one paragraph for each agency that uses the survey)
Thinking about your current or future employment, how could the information from the CAHPS survey you selected be used to improve the quality of that specific quality measure/service at your organization/institution? (Maximum two paragraphs)
